Global Final Pay & Severance Calculator

A professional workflow from employee and contract data to statutory severance estimates, final pay, validation alerts, scenario comparison and a standalone printable report.

An analysis tool, not a one-number calculator

Enter the information once, then review service, pay basis and entitlements before approval

Rules vary by jurisdiction, termination reason, employee status, service date, employer size, contract and pay definition. The calculator therefore explains the formula and highlights review points instead of displaying an unsupported figure.

Usage Guide and Frequently Asked Questions

Instructions and educational content are kept in a separate tab so the working area remains focused on input, analysis and reporting.

What is final pay after termination?

Final pay is the financial settlement prepared when employment ends. It may include outstanding wages, accrued paid leave, pay in lieu of notice, contractual or statutory severance, commissions, bonuses, overtime, reimbursements and other amounts. Lawful deductions are then subtracted to produce a transparent net balance.

How to use the calculator

  1. Select the jurisdiction and termination reason.
  2. Enter employment dates or service manually.
  3. Enter pay components and review the recommended wage basis.
  4. Add unused leave, final wages, notice pay and all other entitlements or deductions.
  5. Review warnings and scenarios, then print the standalone report.

Why can the result differ from another calculation?

Differences usually come from eligibility, the definition of pay, complete versus partial years, age bands, service caps, employer size, excluded service, local final-pay law, contract terms, awards, collective agreements or a better employer policy. The calculator displays the formula and assumptions so the estimate can be reviewed.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator include unused vacation or PTO?

Yes. Enter the payable number of days and choose the appropriate daily-pay conversion. Whether unused leave must be paid depends on the applicable law and policy.

What if severance is provided only by contract or company policy?

Use the custom rule or enter a verified external-plan amount. This is especially relevant where no general statutory severance formula applies.

Can net final pay be negative?

It can be negative mathematically when deductions exceed entitlements. The calculator keeps the negative balance visible but warns that recovery and deductions may be legally restricted.

Does this replace legal, HR or payroll advice?

No. It is an estimation and documentation tool, not a legal opinion or final payroll approval.

Professional and legal notice

Jurisdiction presets are designed to support estimation and review. Laws, caps, administrative guidance and interpretations can change. Confirm the rule in force on the termination date, employee status, contract, award, collective agreement, employer policy, tax treatment and any local or state requirements before approval. Do not enter unnecessary sensitive personal data, and do not place advertisements inside the input workflow or next to calculation, download or print buttons.

Preset Rules and Official Sources

Review the scope of each preset and open the official source before relying on a result.

Approval controls

Check the rule in force on the actual termination date, not only the calculator review date.
Confirm which pay definition applies. A statutory formula may use base pay, ordinary pay, average weekly pay or a capped weekly rate.
Review state, provincial, territorial, award, sector, collective-agreement and contract rules that may provide different or better entitlements.
Do not treat a signed receipt as a waiver of rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
